According to a survey by UTalkMarketing, 64% of consumers would refuse to acknowledge a promoted tweet if they knew it was intended as a promotion. Apparently, if there was a discount offered 38% of consumers admit they’d be more likely to click through on the promotional tweet. In addition, 23% of consumers agree they’d be more open to promotional tweets if they were funny.
How should brands tweet?
Pay more users to tweet your products on your behalf, because when you do it, audiences aren’t going to listen. As UTalkMarketing says, make sure those tweets have discount incentives or are making people laugh themselves silly.
It sounds cheesy and repetitive, but if your brand bothers using twitter it needs to be to charm and interact with your audience, not alienate them by broadcasting information. I’ve watched brands build up loyal followings through participating with consumers and running competitions/discount deals.
